MidAmerican Global Ventures, LLC is a public-private partnership which promotes foreign investment in the United States.  MAG Ventures brings together foreign national investors with low-risk, job-creating projects throughout Northwest, Central and Eastern Ohio. 

MAG Ventures manages U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service EB-5 Regional Centers, provides consulting services to foreign nationals interested in investing in the U.S. and project developers seeking foreign investors, and offers value-added economic development and relationship building services to support project and investor success.

Through our services, foreign investors receive consideration for permanent resident status under the EB-5 program, while project developers receive low-cost project financing.

The principals of MAG Ventures have decades of combined experience as business, government and economic development professionals. We have led or facilitated hundreds of millions of dollars of government supported economic development activity, helping to create thousands of jobs throughout the region.

Experienced Team:

Brian K. Hicks, Managing Director

Brian Hicks is Managing Director of MidAmerican Global Ventures.  He has vast experience in assisting companies in developing and executing strategies to achieve their investment, growth, and government relations goals.  Hicks serves as President  & CEO of Hicks Partners, LLC, a highly respected public relations, government affairs and business development company in Ohio.

Prior to becoming a successful business owner, Brian Hicks had a long career as a public affairs official in a variety of key roles in federal and state government and on local, state and national political campaigns.  He served as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Ohio, Deputy Secretary of State for Ohio and Senior Legislative Adviser for a U.S. Member of Congress.  He serves on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and recently completed his term as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees for The Ohio State University.

Ian Nickey, Communications Director

Ian Nickey develops impactful messages to promote MAG Ventures and its projects locally and internationally. He specializes in delivering maximum results for borrowers and investors in a complex communications environment.

Ian Nickey began his career as a Legislative Aide to a State Senator. In 2001, Nickey moved to the Ohio Department of Development, where he promoted economic and community growth through business attraction and creation, community development and partnerships with local governments. He was involved in almost every aspect of the department’s efforts to attract, create, grow and retain businesses through competitive incentives and targeted investments in Ohio businesses, communities and its citizens. Prior to joining Hicks Partners and MAG Ventures, Nickey was associate vice president for a communications firm where he worked on business capital formation, public relations and regulatory issues.



Michael DiPerna, CFO

As Chief Financial Officer, Michael DiPerna brings more than 25 years of experience in economic development and project finance to MAG Ventures.  During that time, he has financed and closed over 400 economic development projects.  DiPerna holds a Series 7, 53 and 63 license administered by FINRA and is affiliated with a national broker-dealer firm.  He is principal of DiPerna Economic Development Advisors, a successful financial services advisory firm based in Columbus, Ohio. 

Michael DiPerna has advised and helped create innovative financing programs for numerous public entities, including the Ohio Department of Development's Enterprise Bond Fund and Ohio Energy Loan Fund; Ohio Department of Transportation's State Infrastructure Bank; Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority's Northwest Ohio Bond Fund; Dayton Montgomery County Port Authority Regional Bond Fund; and Summit County Financet Authority's Jobs and Development Fund.  In addition, DiPerna  has coupled the above programs with other incentive driven funds including the Ohio Water Development Authority, Ohio Air Quality Development Authority, Ohio Jobs Creation Tax Credit, Tax Increment Financing, PACE, New Market Tax Credit, EB-5 and special assessment programs to gain economic advantages for many large corporations throughout the Midwest.

Keith Conroy, Director

Keith Conroy serves as Director of MidAmerican Global Ventures.  Keith has deep experience in economic development, having served as Assistant Deputy Director for the Ohio Department of Development and as a consultant working with many federal and state agencies, including the U.S. Department of Energy, Export-Import Bank of the United States, Ohio Department of Commerce, Ohio Department of Taxation, Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation among others.   Conroy also serves as Vice President of Hicks Partners, LLC.

Keith Conroy played key roles in attracting many international companies to the State of Ohio and organized several international trade missions in Asia, Europe, and South America for the Governor of Ohio.  He is a Certified Economic Finance Professional from the National Development Council and is currently an elected official.  He has participated in a wide variety of public policy initiatives, public private partnerships, as well as commercial real estate and site selection projects and has been actively involved in the design of a number of state and federal programs.

Conroy lived in East Asia for more than five years and has traveled extensively throughout the world for both business and pleasure.
